Marco, Merel, Joop & Yvon
We are Marco, Merel, Joop and Yvon. We are originally from the Netherlands and have been living in Montánchez for several years now.
The four of us had been dreaming of moving to Spain for some time. Finally we started searching and found our dream location here. It is a part of Spain that has yet to be discovered by others.
Our love for the region
In our opinion, Montánchez and its surroundings are the perfect place to settle. All amenities are close by, the village is bustling with activities and life, and yet you can experience peace and space here.
A little farm and Motorhome stopover
Since 2016 Marco and Merel are the owners of a small farm, just outside the village, with fruit trees, cork oaks and a handful of animals.
Since 2019 Joop and Yvon are the owners of a finca within walking distance of Montánchez. Here they started the Camperstop Alegria.
In doing so, one learns
Initially, Marco and Merel gained experience in buying and renovating their farm and especially in integrating it in Montánchez. When Joop and Yvon came to live here, Marco and Merel were able to help them with all kinds of things.
Paperwork and permits
First of all Joop and Yvon bought the site and the house. In order to realise the motorhome stopover they had to apply for permits and subsidies. After waiting for a while, the paperwork came through, the building was realised and they were able to open the stopover in June 2021.
And what about you?
Our knowledge and experience does not go unnoticed and more and more people approached us. They want to settle in our region, have questions and could use some help with this step.
They need a hand with the language, are looking for references to find a good architect, contractor and or electrician. Or they are looking to buy a house or piece of land to build their own. On the other hand there are also houses to be sold.
We have also helped a number of times Spanish people who previously worked in the Netherlands. We applied for their pension or helped them to file tax returns. In short, we have been able to lend a hand to lot of people.
